Our Global client is looking for Server Support Engineers to be based on-site in Oxford. The working shift pattern is 4-days, 4 Off, 4-nights, 4 Off (8-8) shift pattern.
Please note that ONLY candidates who are UK/Dual citizens, Pre-settled or Settled Status, or ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) can apply for this role. Any other type of work status (Post Study, Skilled Worker, or Dependant Visas) will be NOT considered
Candidates should be primarily a good all-round technical engineer, with a focus on Microsoft-based systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide BAU infrastructure support for production systems running on Microsoft technologies
- Investigate and resolve infrastructure alerts generated by monitoring tools (PRTG, Pingdom)
- Track, document, and manage issues via Jira and Zendesk (system-generated tickets)
- Perform regular patching, updates, and maintenance to ensure stability and security
- Support and escalate issues in line with internal procedures and SLAs
- Collaborate with a team of engineers working in shifts to maintain 24/7 coverage
Essential Skills / Experience
- Skilled in supporting infrastructure and applications built on Microsoft Server systems (e.g. Remote Desktop, Active Directory, DNS)
- Supporting e-commerce websites or similar systems, with thousands of daily users and a zero-downtime expectation (systems run 24/7)
- Familiar with high-availability environments handling thousands of daily users and requiring zero downtime
- Proficient in maintaining and updating Windows-based systems, including regular Windows Updates and patching
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server (2019-2022), including IIS, NLB
- Hands-on with virtualisation technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V
- Confident using monitoring tools such as PRTG, SolarWinds, Azure Monitor, etc.
Preferred Skills / Experience
- PowerShell Scripting
- Experience in a 24/7 support centre would be an advantage, or having worked in shift patterns
