Data Manager (Manufacturing & ERP)

Hybrid Fife

We are sourcing a Data Manager for a Fife-based manufacturing client, which will be a flexible, hybrid-working role.

You will take a hands-on role in improving the quality and governance of operational data across Kettle Produce, with responsibilities including:

  • Taking ownership of data governance and master data processes across the business.
  • Reviewing how jobs, orders, products and other critical records are created and maintained within TROPOS/Epicor.
  • Mapping how information flows through planning, production, packing, packaging, warehousing, distribution and other business functions.
  • Identifying where poor data, unclear ownership or weak processes are causing operational failures.
  • Establishing clear rules around who can create, modify, approve and maintain critical data.
  • Introducing appropriate validation, approval and change-control processes.
  • Defining ownership and accountability for key data sets.
  • Working with IT and operational teams to improve ERP configuration and supporting systems where appropriate.
  • Identifying processes currently dependent on spreadsheets, manual intervention or individual knowledge and helping establish more robust alternatives.
  • Improving data quality and developing processes to prevent problems rather than simply correcting them afterwards.
  • Establishing useful measures for data quality, exceptions and recurring failures.
  • Documenting processes and ensuring improvements become embedded in day-to-day operations.
  • Working directly with stakeholders across the business to drive adoption of new processes and controls.

Who We're Looking For

We need someone who has done this before and understands the realities of introducing structure and governance into a busy operational environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Significant experience in Data Management, Master Data Management, ERP Data Governance or a similar role.
  • Strong practical experience working with ERP systems; experience with TROPOS or Epicor would be particularly valuable.
  • Previous experience within manufacturing, food processing, FMCG or another complex production environment.
  • A good understanding of how ERP data ultimately affects real-world production and supply-chain operations.
  • Experience designing and implementing data governance, ownership, approval and change-control processes.
  • The ability to investigate problems across multiple departments and systems rather than viewing the ERP in isolation.
  • Strong process-mapping and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence working directly with production, operational, commercial and technical teams.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with everyone from shop-floor and operational teams through to senior management.
